Our Mission:

Who We Are:

The Second Ranger Battalion Assistance Foundation, an IRS qualified 501(c)3 Delaware not for profit corporation, is committed to meeting the needs of the 2d Battalion Rangers (2/75) and their family members. Its Board, composed of civilians, will operate the Foundation as fiduciaries, independent of the military, faithfully ensuring that the Foundation's monies are used for the benefit of the Rangers and their families only.

Why We Exist:

The Army resources to care for these elite soldiers and their families from whom so much is demanded, is not enough. More must be done to care for and support them, not only when a Ranger is a casualty of war, but also during the times they deploy and their families must struggle to carry on back home. 2/75 Rangers must know unqualifiedly that their families will have available to them immediate resources outside the confines of the Army, both monetary and otherwise, in the event of special needs and emergency circumstances. Of the three battalions, the 2d is the only Battalion with no outside source of sustained monetary support.

The Foundation's goal:

The Foundation's goal is to create a fund totaling Two Million Dollars. The critical piece will be, as with all endeavors of this nature, to establish a substantial base of contributions through a Leadership Gift Initiative.

Brief Overview - 2/75 Ranger Battallion

The 75th Ranger Regiment, comprised of three battalions each having 600 airborne qualified volunteers, is the largest Special Operations Combat Element in the world. Rapidly deployable anywhere in the world in 18 hours or less, it is a lethal, agile, flexible force.

On D Day, 2d Battalion Rangers (2/75) successfully carried out one of World War II's most vital and daring missions, the scaling of the 100-foot cliffs overlooking Omaha and Utah beaches. Tom Hanks portrayed a 2/75 officer in the movie Saving Private Ryan. During the modern Ranger era, the 2d Battalion, based at Ft. Lewis, WA, has fought in Grenada, Panama, and Haiti.

Following 9/11 the Rangers of the 2d Battalion have been extraordinarily involved in the Global War On Terrorism ("GWOT"). The demands on the soldiers of the battalion are unprecedented in these perilous times. They have been deployed more frequently than at any time in the history of the unit, while, at the same time are still required to be "on call" and ready to go anywhere in the world by air, land, or sea.

The Sacrifice:

While the details are classified, 2/75 Rangers have deployed five times to either Iraq or Afghanistan with future deployments likely. Each soldier in the 2/75 is a hand-picked volunteer and undergoes intense specialized training. By definition, a 2/75 Ranger is the best of the best Army infantrymen.

Three Second Battalion Rangers have been killed in action in the GWOT - PFC Nathan Stahl, SGT Jay Blessing and Cpl. Patrick Tillman. Many more have sustained serious injuries, both in training and combat.

The heroic sacrifices of these brave and committed soldiers, all of whom are hand picked volunteers, are matched by only one other thing - the dedication and resolve of their spouses and children. Since all aspects of Ranger operations are classified, this can be especially difficult since family members never know when or where their loved ones will go off to war, nor when they will return..
